Michael Prokopchak, ASLA


Michael entered the Landscape/Nursery Industry at the age of 13 working for a nursery in Davidsonville, MD. He holds a degree in Landscape Architecture from Temple University and is recognized as a full member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. He brings with him 25 years’ experience in the landscape industry. His reputation for being extremely creative and passionate in his designing drew him to start Walnut Hill Landscape Company. Michael’s commitment to quality has garnered him with several Grand Awards for design and installation from the Landscape Contractors Association of MD, DC, and VA and The National Association of Landscape Professionals. Michael enjoys helping the community through volunteering as Fire Fighter/EMT and coaching youth lacrosse. Michael enjoys spending time on his boat on the Chesapeake Bay with his 3 children and friends. To this day there is not a project that the company has done that Michael has not had his hand in. This is the personal touch that sets Walnut Hill Landscape Company apart from others.

Shaun Snodgrass, CLT

Operations Manager

Shaun is a lifelong area resident having grown up in Harwood Maryland. He started in the Landscape industry at the age of 17 and has been actively involved, even working summers while pursuing and gaining a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Frostburg State University. Over the years he has developed a strong relationship with many Clients, Architects and Consultants throughout the MD, VA & District of Columbia as well as having been involved in a number of high visibility projects. His professional passion is working with his team and facilitating the development of his co-workers with consistent hands on approach to training. He is recognized as a Certified Landscape Technician by the Landscape Contractors Association. Shaun enjoys spending time outdoors with his Fiancée and three Daughters, Hiking, Crabbing and Fishing.

Jennifer Dengler

Chief Financial Officer

Jennifer serves as Chief Financial Officer of Walnut Hill where she is responsible for the oversight of all financial activities, reporting, and accounting. Jennifer has over twenty years of accounting and audit experience in both the public and private sector. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park and is a Certified Public Accountant. Jennifer and her husband have three children and enjoy spending time with family enjoying water sports and skiing. She has a passion for working in her yard and reaping the rewards of the family garden.

Dan Kolb

Purchasing Manager

Dan is a Maryland native, growing up in Wheaton MD but has traveled to many exotic locations around the world, particularly during his enlistment in the US Navy. As a teen Dan worked for a large family owned landscape contractor in suburban Chicago; it was there that he realized he had a passion for the industry. He brings with him over 20 years of Horticultural supply and distribution experience and industry knowledge. Dan has experience in a number of areas including Facilities Management, Emergency Communications Casework, Volunteer Management and of course Horticultural supply and distribution. Dan has provided plant material to a number of large, high profile projects ranging from New York City to Richmond, Va. as well as a number of Federal, State, Local and institutional projects.

David Jorgensen


David comes to us by way of the Florida Panhandle where he worked with a landscape contractor specializing in residential, commercial and government contracts. David has had a keen interest in all outdoor activities since his days as an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. This interest helped make his decision to attend The University of Pennsylvania to earn a degree in Landscape Contracting Design/Build an easy choice. David is looking forward to enjoying the Chesapeake Bay area and all it has to offer with his chocolate lab Mocha.

Margaret McCabe

Office Manager

Margaret is a long time Annapolitan. Upon receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Roanoke College she served as a legislative assistant for a large pharmaceutical firm in Washington D.C. Once she and her husband started a family Margaret stayed home to raise their five children. Margaret serves on the board for Strut and Sip for Autism; a non-profit dedicated to raising funds for local charities serving children and adults with Autism. She is now the Administrative Assistant here at Walnut Hill and helps with media and public relations. Margaret enjoys pilates and yoga, is an avid knitter and can be found, every spring, cheering for her children on the lacrosse field.

Adriana Pariacano

Office Administrator

Adriana joined our team from Venezuela in 2016 as the Office Administrator. At Walnut Hill she is responsible for payroll, account payables and financials. Adriana holds a bachelor degree in Business Management from Catholic University Andres Bello (Caracas, Venezuela). Adriana had been part of the finance’s team for a worldwide consumer products company and for the biggest bank in Venezuela. She brings that experience and knowledge to Walnut Hill. Her native tongue allows her to effectively communicate with the crew and the production staff. When Adriana is not at work she loves doing Cross Fit and spending time with her host family.

Miguel Tejada, CLT

Production Manager

Miguel joined the Landscape industry 22 years ago and has a great deal of experience working on commercial and residential landscape projects. Having a deep knowledge of the Annapolis, Washington D.C. And Virginia metro areas has helped him lead many projects. This gives him a great deal of vision on ‘where to go’ for future projects making him an outstanding asset to the company. With his outgoing personality he creates and preserves strong relationships between Walnut Hill Staff and their clients. Miguel facilitates the equipment and materials on the company’s projects as well as manages all employee relations. On his free time he is always enjoy playing with his two daughters and his little boy. For the record he should not be confused with the baseball player by the same name. He always has to clarify that and on occasion has signed a couple of autographs!

Ben Rankin, ASLA

Landscape Architect

Ben is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, and holds his Bachelors of Landscape Architecture with a minor in Sustainable Studies. Through his many travels to France and around the United States, he has grown to appreciate the unique landscapes that can be found throughout the world. Ben’s passion for both design and the outdoors made working for Walnut Hill an easy choice. In addition to being an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Ben is also a certified LEED Green Associate. After two years of employment at Walnut Hill, he hopes to become a licensed Landscape Architect. When not at work, you can find him fishing the rivers of Maryland, hunting the marshes of the Chesapeake Bay, or hiking the picturesque Appalachian Mountains.

Katie Tolman


Katie has a lifelong love of gardening that sprouted from her childhood days, working with her father in his gardens. After graduating from Salem State College with a degree in social work, she worked with children and families in distress. As a stay-at-home mom, Katie satisfied her passion by gardening part-time. Over the years, Katie has continued to grow professionally, expanding her knowledge of horticulture by taking gardening courses, pouring over books and magazines, and learning about various plant species and proper care. Today, Katie balances a drive to maintain landscapes by caring for them meticulously with a creative eye. Her passion for gardening and attention to detail make her a wonderful fit for working at Walnut Hill. When Katie is not outside in a beautiful garden, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, having dinner with friends, boating, and going to the beach.

Victor Contreras

Assistant Maintenance Manager

Victor is from El Salvador, and has been with Walnut Hill Landscape Company for 8 years. He began his career with Walnut Hill as laborer in 2008 and gradually worked his way up to the position of Crew Foreman over a span of 2 years. After 5 years of running crews, he was promoted to Assistant Maintenance Manager. Victor is fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing him to communicate with Clients and Staff. Victor married his wife in May of 2016, in his free time, Victor likes to play soccer, he also enjoys breakfast with his wife at their favorite spot.
